Using a 3D Grid 

This task shows you how to use the 3D grid to position the annotations of an annotation view.
See Display settings to customize the grid.
Open the Annotations_Part_04.CATPart document.

  1. Select the annotation.

  2. Click Display 3D Grid  in the 3D Grid toolbar.

    The 3D grid appears.

  3. Drag anywhere the annotation.
While the Snap to Point icon is deactivated , the annotation may be moved without any connection to the grid.
 

  1. Click Snap to Point  in the 3D Grid toolbar.

  1. Drag anywhere the annotation.

    The annotation snaps to each point of the grid according to its anchor point. See Text Properties Toolbar.

     

  2. To move and position leaders breakpoints easily using snapping, activate the Snap on Privileged Directions

    You can also activate or deactivate the snapping on privileged direction  in the Tools > Options > Mechanical Design > Functional Tolerancing & Annotation > Manipulators  tab. For more information, see Snap on privileged directions.

    The following commands provide the snapping on privileged directions:

    • Text with Leader
    • Datum Target
    • Geometrical Tolerance
    • Coordinate Dimension
    • Welding Symbol
    • Flag Note
    • NOA
You may temporarily reverse the Snap to Point status pressing the Ctrl.
