When saving back to the Manufacturing Hub, the following objects are saved:
- Modifications to any of the mapped attributes for locked processes and resources.
- New processes created through the Insert Activity command.
- New resources created through the Create resource for Manufacturing
Hub command.
- New resources created through other resource creation commands, as long as the following conditions are met:
- Their category corresponds to a proper Process Engineer Plan Type.
- They are added under a proper resource (i.e., the parent resource should be locked, and the Plan Type of
the parent resource should include the Plan Type of the new resource in its authorized children list).
- Changes to the 3D positions of a locked resource.
- Modification (new/delete) of the association between process and product, process and resource, process and
locator and process and fastener (see Supported Process Relationship Types for
information on the supported relations).
- Association modifications (i.e., create/delete) between a resource (if locked) and WSC.
- The complete document in a detailing object (so that all of the simulation information and data is stored).
This can be disabled via the Manufacturing Hub options, if desired.
- Note that modifications to Work System Components associated to the loaded resources will not be saved
back.
Limitations
Reparented Processes
When a process in a Manufacturing Hub project is reparented in DPM
and subsequently saved back to the Manufacturing Hub, the following
events occur in Process Engineer:
- A copy of the original process is created under the new parent
- The original process is no longer linked to its original parent
Although the original process is no longer linked to the original
parent, the original process is not deleted; it is still present in the Project
Library with its original name. Objects that were associated to the
original process still retain the links to the original process. This
results in those objects being linked to two distinct processes of the
same name in Process Engineer.
As illustrated in the example below, if Subassembly1 is linked to OP1
and OP1 is then moved to a new parent in DPM, Subassembly1 will be
linked to both the original and new copies of OP1 after the project is
saved in the Manufacturing Hub:
Processes or Resources Deleted in DPM
When the loaded process or resource in a Manufacturing Hub project is
deleted in DPM and is saved back to the Manufacturing Hub, only the
parent child link between the object and its parent is deleted in the
Manufacturing Hub. The object is still present in the Project
Library in the Manufacturing Hub with its original name. So the deletion
in DPM is equivalent to Link Flat delete in Process Engineer.
Do not delete the process or resource component (from project library),
because the same component might have been used elsewhere in the DPE
project in another branch that is not loaded in current V5 session.
Therefore, the deletion of the component (from project library) may impact
the other branches of the project. If you are sure about completely
deleting the object (Link Flat, Component or Deep) from V5, use the
Delete
option in V5 PPR Navigator. See
Deleting a Process
or Resource. |
