Defining the Occupant Posture Prediction

Licensing

New Occupant Posture Prediction is only available with a Vehicle Occupant Accommodation product license.
This task describes how to position a manikin or more manikins using New Occupant Posture Prediction .
The project must have a Package.

  1. From the Vehicle Occupant Accommodation toolbar, click New Occupant Posture Prediction .
The Occupant Posture Prediction Definition dialog box appears.
The command prompt requests a manikin (or more manikins) and a package.

  2. Select the required manikin(s) and the package.  (To select more than a manikin, press Ctrl while selecting.)
    One mankin:
    Multiple manikins:

  3. Select the posture prediction method to be used for positioning the manikin(s).
Use the Arrows down for Method and Seating Position  algorithms as required for the scenario.
In the Method, Cascade2 is just a slight adaptation of the Cascade method that takes the type of transmission into account, and predicts the posture according to the J4004 reference. The Transmission drop-down list will only be activated when the chosen method is Cascade2. It will be grayed-out in all other cases.

NOTE: The method selection enable you to choose between different posturing algorithm. Cascade and Cascade2 are based on Dr Reed works. Cascade was the initial method published in 2002. Since then, Dr Reed has worked on the new SAE standard J4004 that is sharing some of the data from the study that generated Cascade. So the Cascade2 is a slight modification to the original cascade to match the approach and philosophy used in the J4004 standard.

  4. Click OK.
The manikin(s) are positioned using the selected posture prediction method and related to the selected package.  A node is added under the Occupant Posture Prediction node. Also an green circle indicator is shown for each positioned manikin at the level of the front head of the manikin.
