Use the Submission tabbed page to choose the source for the job and the type of job that Abaqus will run. The job source can be either the model in your current session or a preexisting Abaqus input file. You can configure the job to perform a full analysis, a data check analysis, a continuation of a data check analysis, or a continuation of a previously completed or aborted analysis. In addition, you can choose whether or not the model consistency checks will be run when you submit the job for analysis.
This task shows you how to choose the job source and type.
In the job editor, click the Submission tab to display the Submission tabbed page.
From the Source options on the tabbed page, select the source for the job. You can choose one of the following options:
From model
Select this option to perform an analysis of the model in your current session.
From input file
Select this option to perform an analysis of a model defined in an Abaqus input file that may or may not have been created in Abaqus for CATIA V5. The input file must be saved in the job computation directory (see Specifying File Storage Directories), and the job name must be identical to the input file name (the .inp file extension on the input file name is ignored).
If a model is open in your current Abaqus for CATIA V5 session, it should match the model in the Abaqus input file. If the two models do not match, you may encounter difficulties attaching the output database after the analysis; see Importing an ODB for more information.
From the Job Type options on the tabbed page, select the job type of your choice. You can choose one of the following options:
Full analysis
Submit a job with this option selected to perform a complete analysis of your model and to write the results to the output database. This option is the default.
Syntax check
Submit a job with this option selected to check the input file syntax and Abaqus keyword usage. Syntax checks do not use an Abaqus license. They are more comprehensive than the model consistency checks described in Checking Your Model, but not as thorough as a data check analysis. A syntax check generates job messages that you can view in the job monitor dialog box (for more information, see Monitoring the Progress of a Job). Depending on what is found during the checks, more detailed information may be written to the message (.msg) or data (.dat) files.
Data check
Submit a job with this option selected to check that the model is consistent and that all the required model options have been set. Data checks use an Abaqus license and are more comprehensive than the model consistency checks described in Checking Your Model. To see the results of a data check analysis, review the data (.dat) file in your working directory. You can also view the results of a data check analysis in the job monitor dialog box (for more information, see Monitoring the Progress of a Job).
Continue analysis
When you run an analysis with the Data check option above, Abaqus for CATIA V5 creates and saves all the files necessary to continue the analysis at a later time. Submit a job with the Continue analysis option selected to complete the analysis.
Restart
Submit a job with this option selected to restart a previously terminated analysis from an intermediate step. If you add new steps to a previously completed analysis, a restart job can also be used to start the revised analysis at the end of the previously completed steps. If you select the Restart option, you must complete the appropriate information on the Restart tabbed page (see Restarting an Analysis).
By default, Abaqus for CATIA V5 checks the model for consistency when you submit a job for analysis (see Checking Your Model for details). Toggle off Run model consistency check if you wish to suppress the model consistency checks for a particular job.
Click OK to close the job editor and to save your settings.
