Using the Network Assistant

This task shows you how to use the Network Assistant command. This command highlights linked bundle segments and devices and further displays connections between them. It also detects and repairs broken connections.
This command is available in the Electrical Harness Flattening and Electrical Wire Routing workbenches.
The scenario depicted below is typical for the Electrical Harness Flattening workbench.
Open a document containing some broken links in the Electrical Harness Flattening workbench.
  1. Click Network Assistant in the Electrical Link toolbar.
For the Electrical Wire Routing workbench, select Tools > Network Assistant.

The network is analyzed (checked) for faulty connections. As soon as the first connection problem is detected the check stops.

  2. Reframe on the first faulty connection is done. The following message is displayed.

  1. Click Yes to repair the network. A message box informs you that the repair is done.
Note that although the Check stops at the first connection issue, while repairing, electrical links will be created for all broken connections in the network.

Click No to cancel the command.

  2. Click OK.

  3. Select a bundle segment. All connected bundle segments and devices are highlighted in the geometry area.

  4. Click in space or press escape (on your keyboard) to exit the command.

The connection status of branches or bundle segments can be identified with color codes as below:
  • Red color highlighted text: The highlighted text indicates that the extremity is not electrically connected to any extremity or device.
  • Yellow colored arrow: The colored arrow indicates that there exists distant connections (only electrical links and no geometrical links) between the two elements.
  • Magenta color highlighted text: The highlighted text indicates that the branch or bundle segment with an extremity that is not connected, is hidden.

  • Magenta colored arrow: The colored arrow represents the distant connection, while the highlighted text indicates that either or both the elements distantly connected are hidden.
