Copying and Pasting Objects

This task shows you how to copy the selection and paste it to the desired location. The application workbenches offer a variety of specific copying and pasting scenarios.

Select the object you want to copy.

To copy, you can either:

Click Copy in the Standard toolbar
Select Edit > Copy
Press Ctrl+C
Right-click then select Copy
In the geometry area or the specification tree, press and hold down the Ctrl key and drag the selection.

This places what you copy in the clipboard.

To paste, you can either:

Click Paste in the Standard toolbar
Select Edit > Paste
Press Ctrl+V
Right-click then select Paste
In the geometry area or the specification tree, drop what you are dragging (see above).

Contextual features such as fillets or extracts cannot be pasted if their parent element (edge, face, etc.) has not been previously selected.
You cannot copy then paste an object from one session to another.

Paste formats

When pasting several kinds of features simultaneously, these features are pasted with the first paste format available in the Paste Special list, provided that each of the pasted features accepts this format.

Let's suppose you multi-select then paste three features: "Body.1", "Body.2" and "GeometricalSet.1":

The paste formats available in this case are As Result With Link and As Result (in order of appearance in the list of the Paste Special dialog box)
"GeometricalSet.1" does not accept the As Result With Link format.

As a consequence, the features are pasted As Result.

Paste order

When several features are copied then pasted to a location compliant with all of them, these features are pasted according to their selection order and not according to their original order of appearance in the specification tree.
