ENOVIA V5 VPM

This tab contains compatibility settings in CATIA V5 in order to work in a CATIA / ENOVIA LCA interoperability context:

These options can be used for both LCA Navigator and VPM Navigator.

Save Options

Select the Partial save authorized check box if you want to implement the Partial Save function. This functionality allows you to save as many objects as possible, even those linked to a modified but unsavable object, while ensuring database integrity. It enables a more efficient save operation for concurrent engineering purposes.
For more information about this option, see "Performing a Partial Save" in the "Saving Objects" section of the VPM Navigator User Guide.
By default, this option is cleared.
Select the Disable automatic renaming check box if you want to inhibit the automatic renaming, prior to a save, of Part references or documents with the same name as already existing Parts or documents.
By default, this option is cleared.
For more information about this option, see "Automatic Renaming of Parts and Documents with Already Existing Names" in the "Saving Objects" section of the VPM Navigator User Guide.
Select Keep Last Save Options check box if you want to keep a record of the objects discarded in the last save operation in the current CATIA Session. For your next save operation, it enables you to see the data which was discarded in the last save process.
By default, this option is cleared.
For more information about this option, see "Keep Last Save Options" in the "Discard Save" section of the ENOVIA V5 VPM-CATIA Interoperability User Guide.
Select the Exclude lineic elements from Bounding Box computation check box if you do not want to consider the two dimensional elements like lines, edges axis systems, planes and wire-edges in geometry for bounding box computation during save in ENOVIA V5 VPM.
By default, this option is cleared.

Open

Click View Product Structure only to transfer a lighter version of ENOVIA LCA data into CATIA V5. Only the visible data is sent to CATIA V5; the transfer is more rapid because the constraints are not downloaded during the interoperability process.
By default, this option is cleared.

Click Download only CGR in Visualization Mode to avoid downloading the .CATPart in visualilzation mode (when connected to ENOVIA) to view the 3D geometry using CGR file. This improves the performance. If you select or clear this option, you have to restart the session to bring the change into effect.
Note: When the CGR file in the CATIA DMU cache is not up-to-date and The CGR format generated by File Introspection in ENOVIA is still not up-to-date, the .CATPart may be downloaded.
By default, this option is cleared.

User Attribute Mapping

By default, this option is cleared.

In the User Attribute Mapping section, select the Work with Attribute Mapping check box to enable attribute mapping (or, if this option is checked, uncheck it to disable attribute mapping).

Specify the attribute mapping file using . Once selected, the file appears in the Attribute Mapping File field.

To change the AttributeMapping.xml file to any other xml file, you must:

  • restart CATIA V5. If you are already connected to ENOVIA LCA, a message will be displayed prompting you to restart CATIA to put into effect the changes made.

  • work in the existing CATIA session. This is possible only when you are not connected to ENOVIA LCA:

You can also define the path of the attribute mapping file by using a variable. You can choose a particular variable depending on the OS (Windows or UNIX) you want to use. For this, you need to have the launching shell in CATIA V5:
set XMLPath=E:\users\Users Data\AttributesMapping.xml:

  • In this empty field, define this variable as the path of the attribute mapping file. In the image below, ${XMLPath} references the name of the CATSetting. This information avoids mixing CATSettings between Windows and UNIX:

Both the user and the administrator can therefore have control over this file. The setting is platform-dependent and if you have specified in the variable that it should be used on Windows, it cannot be used on UNIX (for UNIX, you need to choose another value or path).

For more information about this Attribute Mapping functionality, see "Mapping Attributes and Defining Domains in an XML File" in the VPM Navigator User Guide..
Select the De-activate Default Mapping check box if you do not want Color , Transparency and Hide/Show  attributes to be saved or mapped in database.
By default, this option is cleared.
For more information about this option, see "Graphic Properties" in the "Save Projecting Property Information" section of the VPM Navigator User Guide

Insert New CATProduct in Session

It is possible to change PDM Properties with the Set PDM Properties command after Inserting a New Product in an assembly and before saving this assembly. You can choose to save the new product in ENOVIA:

  • in a Structure Exposed mode,
  • or in a Publications Exposed mode.

You can choose these settings earlier, before the Save operation, when you insert a New Product in Session. These options, Insert New CATProduct in Session, are the same as the ones in the Set PDM Properties window.

If you want to create products in Publications Exposed mode, this setting must be checked. And there is no conflict with the Optimal CATIA PLM Usability for Product Structure in this case. No Warning message will appear.

By default, the Publications Exposed option is selected.

If you want to create products in Structure Exposed mode, check the Structure Exposed option.
In this case, if
the parent product is Publications Exposed, the new product is set to Publications Exposed mode in order to avoid conflicts with the Optimal CATIA PLM Usability for Product Structure and no Warning message is displayed.

If the parent product is Publications Exposed, the new product is set to Publications Exposed mode and one of the following warning messages is displayed according to its parent’s environment:

  • If the parent product is a file, it has no PRC Context, the message is as follows: "The new Product is created in Publications Exposed mode instead of requested Structure Exposed mode because it is not under a PRC Context."

  • If the parent product is from ENOVIA and it is in Publications Exposed mode, the message is as follows: "The new Product is created in Publications Exposed mode instead of requested Structure Exposed mode because it is under a Publications Exposed Assembly."

These two cases exist because a Structure Exposed Product under a Publications Exposed assembly is not authorized. In case of conflicts, the Insert New Product operation takes place and a warning informs the user that the requested mode cannot be set, and the Publications Exposed mode is applied.
NNote that the New CATProduct inherits the "Destination PDM" ("ENOVIA V5" or "File") of its parent product.

The settings are dynamically taken into account, there is no need to restart CATIA after modifying them./td>

PVR Background Color

This option enables the user to choose a specific color for the background of PVR. By default, the color is the set background color defined under the ENOVIA V5 VPM tab in General > Compatibility menu.

Note:

  • When the user modifies the background color of the product under the Visualization tab in General > Display menu, the set background color of open PVR is completely lost.
  • When the user uses the scene environment in the DMU product, the set background color of open PVR is lost.

Refresh Documents in session

TThis option enables the user to refresh the documents based on the option selected (ie; either Modification date /kbd>or Iteration number)

If Modification Date is enabled or selected, the documents are refreshed based on the last modification date.
and,
If Iteration number is enabled or selected, then the criterion to determine refreshable status is based on iteration number.

By default, Enable refresh to load older documents is enabled.

ENOVIA V5 Server Interoperability Administration

The site administrator can modify the default behavior to allow free naming of documents, parts or products.

Due to the uniqueness of the V_ID attribute, the name of a document / part / product, will have to be mapped in a CATIA identifier different from the V_ID attribute.

The site administrator can modify the default behavior by specifying the attributes that will be used to map CATIA identifiers. To do this, the administrator can modify these settings either by using the Tools  >  Options... command in a CATIA Version 5 session or else with a variable, without starting a Version 5 session.

What are the attributes for identifiers?

  • Default =  V_ID (For Part/Product length=40, For Document length=80),

  • Recommended = V_name (length=80),

  • Available = V_description (length=250),

  • Others depend on DB customization.

For more information about this option, see "Free Naming in ENOVIA LCA Mode" in the ENOVIA / CATIA Interoperability User Guide.
This option should be used only by the ENOVIA LCA administrator to modify the ENOVIA LCA server settings.

Enovia V5 Save Lock Options

This option enables the you to select the lock from the list of lock options.

Retain Locks, when selected, saves all data keeping all current locks intact.
Unlock All selected to unlock documents, Parts and technological packages i.e. release the lock you placed on them.
Unlock Instances Only selected to unlock instances only. References will not be unlocked.
Smart Instances Lock when selected, locks the root node instance of newly inserted sub assembly and
unlocks all child instances of newly inserted sub assembly.
